Side Marker Lights
Work on my '69 Nova continues, but I do have a question hopefully someone can answer. Are side marker lights absolutely required by law? My '65 Mustang does not have them. Start year? If legal I would prefer to weld them up and get a cleaner look. Thanks.

Nevada. Isn't that the State where prostitution is legal? Hard to believe they would care about some lousy old side marker lights.
If you have State inspection in NV, check with DMV or the inspection station. Here in PA, all original equipment lighting must be working. You could always hope they won't notice if the lights are missing. vicrod |

I believe the first year for side marker lights on Chevys was '68. I know the '67 Camaro didn't have them but the '68 did. Don't really know about the legalities but if you ask me, the DMV probably wouldn't even notice if they were missing.

All the American makes had mandatory side marker lights starting in 68. I bet you wouldn't be busted if you deleted them, but when you went to sell the car, it might be a different story.

side marker lights
In pennsylvania if they are there they have to work.I have been shaving marker lights and door handles on my rides for years. The door handles can be a problem for some inspection mechanics, but I understand the law says the doors have to be securley latched,it doesnt really say they have to have handles. Unless they have another 69 nova to compare yours to I really dont think they will even notice them missing.
