Singer 111W Controller?

How do you know if it is out of adjustment?

I may be wrong, but as far as I know, there is no adjustment for the collector. I have never adjusted mine on any of my machines. You might want to check the spring and make sure that's not broken, I have had that happen to me and didn't notice it for quite a while.

They actually show an adjustment in the book. I'll scan it and post it later

Yes, I see that in the manual now. I've never adjusted mine, it's set right in the middle. I don't know how you'd ever notice any difference.

they say it has something to do when the arm is in the upswing - I think.
But I'm sure that in all of yours years that if you've never done it, it doesn't mean much.
