First off, I'm no pro, just in the same boat has you. I bought a Singer 111W155 sewing machine this summer and have been learning how to use it and started doing small uphostery projects. I strongly suggest you get yourself a copy of the book "Automotive Upholstery Handbook" by Don Taylor. I too stuggled with my machine when I first got it and spent hours of internet reaseach and found the manual useless for these machines. I was at Barnes & Noble one day and found this book and couldn't believe it. It shows step by step how to thread the machine and is the only book with clear pictures of how to properly install the needle (I had mine backwards and had all sorts of troubles). It has a whole chapter on how to sew and will bring you up to speed on that machine the fastest way I can think of. Good luck with your ventures!
