Singer help
Well being a new guy I thought I would ask here before I act. I just found a Singer 7-41 ( large machine) for free. It says property on us navy, it is missing the plate under the foot, the motor, and foot control thing. I looked at my upholsterers Consew and mine is twice the size and a deeper throat than his. Just wondering if it is worth taking to a shop to have gone through for the occasional auto upholstery redo.

That's a big heavy duty canvas sewing machine. They only stitch about 500 to 600 stitches a minute, and a normal industrial machine will do about 3000 stitches per minute. You'll spend a ton of money getting it back in shape. Can you do car upholstery on it? Yes. Do you need that much machine? No. I'm not sure there are even attachments for it like welt feet, etc.
