You MUST double flare all soft steel brake lines at 45 degrees. If not they will leak like a screen door in a submarine. The only exception is if you're using stainless lines which are single flared at 37 degrees and use special connectors.

you could get a single flare to seal, if your lucky.. but even if you do, it's not gonna hold for long.. for as cheap as pre made lines are, just buy lengths in the size you need. double flare tools that actually work cost too much to justify the cost savings of buying bulk lines and fittings.
