going to put a 671 underdriven on my 427 chev. powered 47 International. the engines not radical. can i use my 850 DP Holley or do i have to run 2 of them? Any feedback would be appreciated! Marty
I know it can be done. I don't know how you would go about setting it up, but I've seen it at a few shows. They also make a cool looking kit that covers the carb to look like you are running injection.
Here's the site that the scoop is on: Street Catcher
Yes you can run a single Holley (or just about any carb for that matter) on a 6-71. You just have to get a single carb adapter plate (in place of the dual carb plate). You can buy them from, Hampton, BDS, THe Blower Shop, etc.. (any of the manufatures will have them).
Now, the only problem I see is I don't think a single 850 is going to be enough carb, for a blown big block. I don't know the details of your engine or how much boost you plan to make?
thanks guys......dont want much boost..........runnin 10.5 to 1. I fill up at the pumps...shell, sunoco etc. my friend at Unniversal spinners.com can make me a single plate. i just need the idler pully, and the belt. Marty
I agree 10.5:1 and boost are not going to get along very well on pump gas. In all honesty you better keep the boost in the 2-4lb range and watch for detonation. If it is just for show then put some race gas in it when you need to drive it. If you plan on driving it on the street you might want to rething the blower for now, build another engine that is set up for a blower.
Royce its a crower cam , I,ll have to check on the pistons. my friend Mike Hosking built the 427 20 years back. I,ll check with him. He told me it would run ok underdriven. Keep u posted. Marty
I would have to look but I think I "may" have a single carb mount for a 6-71 out in the shop somewhere....I ended up with a nice twin setup for my blower when I decided to run 19lbs of boost
