Holy cow, having never seen a sink hole in any way shape or form I didn't NOT think they would be anywhere near that bad. WOW.

And there are more further down, 8 cars in all. That Pace Vette is toast. GM thinks they are going to restore THAT ??? Take the tags off and put them on another car with the drivetrain is about all they will get.

I plan to go to the Goodguys Nashville Nationals in May and will stop at the museum on my way home.

Wow... I'm not sure if they should even repair the pace car. By the time they're done they'll have a completely different car! I would just mount the motor and a couple of its seats on display with a picture of the car and what had happened to it. There's no coming back from that.

Pretty sad, but at least nobody was hurt.

Who cares what it costs? They'll just write it off on their taxes

It isn't the cost....there's nothing left to "restore". The frame is trash and there isn't an original body panel left to save. What are they going to restore ....

These Corvettes are such a quandry to me. a couple of them were very significant cars, but are the same cars still significant once totally restored? If any car receives a full ground up (literally in this case) restoration, does it still even really matter that it was a 0 miles car to begin with, for example?
The pace car is a hunk of junk IMHO and isn't worth saving. I say base the restorations on each ones own merit as a Corvette, but not as anything special other than that.
