I spent a day there when I was working in Crystal river in 1992 The neat thing is the stories that he had for the vehicles on display. The last I heard he had found the Ford he and his wife had built right after they had been married and was in the process of restoring it.
Thanks for the help with the jeep.

Thatīs a great deal, does it include labor ?
Did you have to work the panels more to get them straight, black usually shows up every little imperfection ?

Malc-

That PM you sent was PERFECT !!

I went to Garlits Museum a while back. There are Pics in my Project Journal. He definately could use more lighting in there. Kind of a cool place. Not like the Smithsonian Institution, but still a neat place. Don't expect much, and you will be pleasantly surprised. If you expect to see TONS of race cars, I think you will be disappointed. He has quite a few old fords and dodges, not many chevies.

WhenI was down there he had all his record breaking engines on display, video of the wreck where he went airborne did a 180 came back down and headed back towards the start line, the Studebaker shop truck that some body decided he needed and dropped in front of his shop. The most interesting he had was a 40s car, that a doctor and his wife had special ordered but she never got to drive. She died before it was delivered, he put it up on blocks in the barn and once a month he would go out start it put it in gear and let it run for an hr. I think it only had about 2 thousand or so miles on it. Don always knew his fan base was what made him what he is. Back in the 80s my buddy's boy's first words were Big Daddy, we would be watching a race on TV and he would jump up and down shouting and pointing at the TV big daddy daddy. We were living in Denver at the time, when he was 5 we took him with us to the Mile highs, all the way to the track all he could ask is Big Daddy going to be there? At that time he was working with Muldoney so we weren't sure if he would be signing autographs, well he was so I had Max get behind me with J. Max in his arms and bulled my way to the front. When we got up front I said" Hey Don see this little guy behind me? His first question this morning was is Big Daddy going to be there?" Don reached over the rope grabbed J. Max and started talking to him, and turned to Max and said "Well are you going to take a picture?" After the shot he held and talked to him for a bit then went back to signing other peoples autographs. Later on Max told me that there was an 8X10 picture of Don holding J. Max on the dresser and his photo was a wallet size on the toilet tank.
