skippingt monte 86

I have a 1986 ss monte carlo . Is there anyway to do with out the computer i have picked up a skip in the motor and can't get it out ..When i go to get the code it blinks 1-2 whitch means no rpm's .then thething starts to blink like crazy .. I can start the car and again it skips and blinks like crazy... can you help me in anyway ..

i dont know if you know so dont let me offend you. 1 blink followed by 2 blinks means the #12 code. this will blink 3 times in a series of * ** * **
* ** then it will give you the trouble code, example ** **** = 24 this will blink three times and then the next,( *** ** = 32 example) if you get * ** (12) six times in a row then it did not find a code and the problem may not be noticable to the computer. if it has only been a few hundred miles then give the computer a chance to code.

computer controls the carb, the distributor timing, and the transmission lockup...

if you want to go without the computer, check this page:;f=17;t=008231

running w/o the computer will make the car emissions illegal...

I would do your normal tune-up procedures (wires, plugs, cap) and see if that helps with your miss.
