Skylark TH-400 kick down switch

I have a '66 Skylark that I put a 455 and TH-400 into. I'd like to hook up the kick down on the trans but 66s didn't come with the 400 so it doesn't have the wiring for the electric kick down.

I've been told I can just mount a micro switch on the gas peddle but I don't know how to wire it. Is it just a 12 volt source to the switch and then a wire from the switch to the kick down solenoid on the trans?

Thanks in advance.
Mike

Hi,
You have it correct,
12v to one side of switch then to trans.

Actually, the Super Turbine 300 trans that came stock in your Buick (it is NOT a Powerglide) also uses an electric kickdown. The switch should already be in place. This same switch will also operate the kickdown on the TH400.

Yeah, the original motor and trans is long gone and the wiring was a hacked up mess so any provisions for a factory kickdown are no longer.

I do remember a switch on the intake that was not hooked up and there were no wires. I thought it was for the switch pitch convertor. The ST300 did use one didn't it?

Yes, the ST300 used both an electric solenoid kickdown and another electric solenoid valve for the switch pitch. The switch on the intake would have had terminals for both. B&M and others sell generic switches that go on the throttle linkage as noted above.
