Slim Jim shifting problems

I know the Olds slim-jim Roto-Hydramatic was never a great transmission but thats all I have until I get my Ford going. The problem I have is when you put the car in drive and go it shifts into third gear at about 30 mph!! If I start in second gea and go it shifts good but what is the use of having an automatic if you have to shift it?
The only changes are the trans was rebuilt and I replaced the factory rochester 4barrell carb with an Edlebrock. The last mod changed where the kick down and throttle linkage attach. I have where it shifts pretty good but I would like to make it better.

sounds like you changed the amount of travel that the "kick down" uses, this will effect shifting, these are a very tempermental and touchy trans.
