sludged up mopar 218?

I'm in the process of reviving my 52 dodge. The block code says its a ply 218. I put a battery in it and removed the seized water pump pulled the plugs and cranked it over. After cranking it twice about 10 secs or less it wouldn't build oil pressure. I pulled the oil filter which was stuck do to sludge in the bottom of housing the scooped some out thick as tar. Then. I drained the oil pan flowed good for a couple of seconds then chunks of sludge were dripping out. I think the lack of pressure is do to this build up what can I do to clean the inside of engine I ponder filling the crankcase with tranny guild to break up the mess and draining again. I can pull the pan just wondering what your thoughts are. Thanks.
Kris.
