Small Block Ford Experts Please Read
I've recently pulled the pan on two 302's. One is a 1968, the other from around 1984(?). I was told the 1984 had a knock but ran, I don't know about the other. Both had what appeared to be pieces of lifter in the pans but upon closer inspection the pieces are plastic/rubber. They are curved (I'm guessing 1 inch diameter) and are easily cut with a box cutter. They are black and about a 1/16th thick. What has failed here? Please e-mail me at JWareHodo@aol.com

Old valve stem seals, very common. Don't worry it happens to all of them. Be sure to clean the oil pickup thoroughly because it is sure to be plugged. This phenomena kills more Fords than any other.
