Small block Ford steering conflict

I am in the process of building a 34 ford with a small block Ford engine. Running Heidt's IFS and block hugger type tube headers from Summit. Mocking up steering looks almost impossible! Steering shafts run right into headers. I could cut them apart and move them from the block for more clearance but I would rather get something more suitable for the application. Running out of time..much to do. moving in 4weeks! Any ideas?

Steering box is Rack and Pinion furnished by Heidt's similar to Mustang II but made by another vendor.

How many universals are you using in your steering shaft? without pictures or a sketch it is a little hard to advise but it is pretty common to have at least two universals in the steering shaft often with a carrier bearing on the frame to keep it all in check. But to answer your original question I have cut header pipes and had a muffler shop bend me some replacements and welded them in. It does affect your header tune but on a street rod not for race I personally don't think it makes much difference at all.

It looks like I can get the steering shafts clear of the headers if I use 3-joints with a heim joint to stabilize them. I was hoping to have a cleaner installation using only two joints. I may opt to do as you suggest with the headers but I think I'll proceed using the three joints. Thanks for your input
