small block valve seal question, o-rings?

I am in the process of replacing the valve seals in my small block( in the truck) and stopped to ask this question. If you have the umbrella seals do you have to use the o-rings too? The reason I am asking is, after removing the spring I noticed that my heads had both. If I do need the o-rings how do you put the darn things in.

Please if anyone knows please let me know cause the trucks my way home and its in pieces right now.

Thanks

John

I have always had either the umbrellas or the o-rings. The o-rings are easy to put on. Just take off the valvespring and roll them on. I don't know if there is a benifit to using both.

Hey thanks lluciano77. I have some viton seals from an old top end kit that I got when I changed the intake. I think I will try those. Problem is I only have 8 so I guess I will just do the intakes. The truck smokes a little when I fire it up and I wanted to see if the seals fixed my problem.

Thanks again

John
