small blower with serp belt

I have plans to build a 400 for my 4x4 when my 305 died. the 400 i was going to get fell thought. Anyway came across a 90 model Chevy truck that i can get for 300 bucks has no tittle. figured i wold put the 350 in my truck as a temp engine till i built my 400. then i thought about these small blowers the 144s are 177s. thought this wold give me close to the power numbers as the built 400 for less money see these on ebay all the time for 6 to 700 bucks. this is my issue they all say no serp belts. my current engine has a serp setup form a astro van and the 90 model obversely has a serp set up. So all this rambling to ask why wont the work with serp belts?

I already have a set of aftermarket vortec heads 185cc runners 202int and1.6 ext. that was for the 400 but if i do the super charger thing i wold put On t he 350 since already have them

The reason they say not for use with serpentine belts, the supercharger's snouts are not long enough. Serpentine belt systems stick out farther from the engine block than regular V belt setups do.

According to this sight http://www.holley.com/data/TechServ...Tech%20Info.pdf the pulley is 7 inch's from the first bolt on the intake, on one of the blowers. that is were my serp belt falls. my system came from astro van and does not go straight across was thinking maybe i could eliminate the ac, only there for the belt routing anyway. run the belt around the pulley. would this make any major problems other than maybe not getting enough boost since the crank pulley is bigger than the once that comes with the blower?
