Small clunking noise from rearend

I have a 03 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab and just outta no where it started making a lil clunkin sound like its comin from the rear end or the tires! It mostly does it when i have my foot on the gas. Any ideas? Thanxxxxx!!

If you notice it when first starting out from a stop (either forward or reverse), the first thing I would check is the u-joints on both ends of the driveshaft. Next would be for a loose rear wheel(s). Remote possibility would be loose or broken shock(s) or rear spring(s).

If it seems to be a more constant repetitive clunking sound, check for something attached to or stuck in one of the tire(s).

I don't mention the rear end gears or wheel/axle bearings because that would usually result in a whine or growling sound rather than a clunking sound.

Could also be worn ball joints or steering components in the front end. That would be more of a popping sound.
