Small headers to improve low end torque with low CR??
Hey guys, my 355 SBC (.030 over) is going great, we just measured the deck height with our dial indicatior, if it was accurate and our dished pistons are 10cc, then I've calculated our CR to be about 8:1
We have short tube Tri-Y headers that are 1 5/8, I've heard smaller headers help with low end torque (which this engine probably won't have a lot of due to low CR). We also have a completely rebuilt 700R4 with a 1500 stall to help out. It's my understanding that smaller headers help with low end torque, is this true?

Sure. A smaller tube 1.5" header helps low end torque. So, does a short duration cam, dual plane intake with small ports, small port head, small carb, and a longer stroke.
An 8:1 cr engine can make good low end torque with the right stuff.
