Smallest Intake Ports

I have a 283 intake that has TINY intake ports but I don't have any heads to compare these tiny ports to.

Do any of you out there have any unported 283/327 heads
520's, 896's Etc.

& would be kind enough to measure the port opening for me with a set of dials/veneer calipers?

A picture would be even better!

I'll try to get a pic of the intake ports on here & some more common ports for comparison.

I'd like to run the smallest port heads I can get.

The only intake that seems to match the 339 heads castings I have is a stock 350 2BBL intake.
I guess it would probably work just as well to run it, but I would really like to experiment with the high torque build.

If you are going in the direction I think you are you might want to hunt for and Edelbrock Streetmaster intake, they show up on ebay sometimes, this intake has small runners, the idea was to increase velocity and to gain MPG and low end torque.

My 283 has heads with tiny intake ports that likely match the ports on your intake. The ports are barely bigger than the distal joint of my thumb. I don't know what year the heads are since I bought them at a junkyard, but they have the offset valve cover bolt holes, so they're no later than '59.

It just occurred to me that the flat-tappet cam used in the TBI truck 350's back in the late '80s-early '90s had intake duration of only 179*, and lift of .350". A 1.6 rocker would kick it up to .373" without adding enough duration to shake a stick at.

I know they are tiny. Pefect for an all torque engine. Problem is the 307/350 #339 heads I have have a much larger intake port opening.

Do you have any casting numbers?
Are you able to measure the ports? Thank you.
