For the smartones here.

Three guys check into their hotel room. The clerk charged them $25 for the room. Each guy put up a $10 bill for the room. The clerk could not figure out how to evenly divide the $5 change between the three guys. He gave the $5 change to the bell boy and told him to give the guys their change. Well the bellboy couldn't figure how to divide it either, so he kept a $2 tip for himself and gave each guy a $1 bill for change.
Now, each guy put out $10 and then got $1 back. Each guy is out $9. Three guys out $9 each equals $27. The bellboy has $2 in his pocket. $27 plus $2 equals $29, so where's the other dollar???

one guys being cheated. 2 guys had 2 bux left over and 1 had a dollar. When the money is broken down past the hotel to the bell hop. the bell hop takes 2 dollars of guy #1, then he takes guy#2's 2 dollars and divides it in two 1 dollars, giving each guy a dollar and guy #3 his dollar he had. Bellhop pockets the 2 dollars. They dont make change. Room comes with Tax and a mint.

In this variation of the riddle, each guy ended up paying $9 when they should have paid $8.333333333333333333333333333333.

The bellboy got the difference.

To be more accurate...each guy should have paid 1/3 of the $25 which would work out to $8.33333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333 33333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333 333333333333333333333333333 to infinity. In this example each guy overpaid by $.666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666 6666666666666666666666666666666666666 to infinity and the bellboy took $2

Personally, I would have just beat the crap out of that bellhop for taking your money. That little punk should have given better service if he wanted a tip!
That'll solve all this math mumbo jumbo!

No extra dollar. Together they end up paying 27 dollars, bellhop keeps 2 dollars. 27-2=25 dollars paid for room.
