Red face Smash my Dash!

Ok anyone out there have any experience with last 30-40 cars that have dismantled their dash? I got parts of it off but cannot get the big ugly speaker cover off. Is this thing welded? I am specifically talking about my Buick here, but I feel that all the cars around that time should be the same. I would specifically like to pull the dash and weld on new panels to make a custom/new one that can handle newer guages. Short of a torch, I would just like to remove that huge wart, AKA the chrome radio block. <img src="graemlins/spank.gif" border="0" alt="[spank]" />

Usually speaker/radio grilles are attached by threaded stud that go through the dash from the grille. I have seen a few that tabs which went through slots and were bent or twisted to retain the part.
I love technology.

Ya gotta look at it from the Back side. Just like pasadenahotrod said it may have studs or tabs holding it in place. I wish I had a dash to work on, somebody cut the dash out of my 64 Chevelle and There is this gaping hole between the steering wheel and the windshield.

Dern TM, it really has to make you wonder why someone would want to cut out a dash board?

Heck Madd,
It's simple! They were going to build a racecar.
Hack out the dash, cut the fenderwells out with a torch, throw the interior in the trash....voila, instant racecar!
