Question smog legal swaps

Just wondering if anyone has encountered any major problems with their engine modifications not complying with their states legislation, and what they have done to rectify the problem. The way I see it is that there is going to be more scrutiny in the coming years on smog regulation compliance, and the industry will have to make a slight shift to accomodate the concern. If anyone has any information on this subject, I would be interested in hearing about it. Thanks!

The swaps I am reffering to are things like headers versus manifolds, high-flow catalytic converters, supercharging & nitrous - modifications that will provide increased performance, but still maintain adequate emissions.

the best answer I can think of is to become active in the legislative process to insure that our sport is not legislated into oblivion,or taxed to the point of extinction

Best bet is to check with the state you are in. Even tho some parts say 50 state legal if the do not have the carb stamp they are no goes. and my State seems to go with the you might kill a tree so no dice policy. it can be done but remember most smog shops are setup to test "stock" vehicles and not all of the techs know how to imput the fact that your cam is not stuck so that your timing is diff.
