Try some of this stuff first. Spray it on while running. It will quiet it down.

1977 corvette smog pump belt

I'd like to line up the belt properly. I don't know where to put spaces to be correct. I was hoping for a diagram or someone who knows how to fix the belt right and pass on the information?!?

You got a pic! Is it like the one in the link. Does it have it's own belt?
Which way is it out of line? Inward? or outward? Or on an angle?

smog pump belt

this is the situation...I don't know the proper spacer bracket set up so the belt will line up straight.

SEarch with google images. That's how I found the other pic. There's bound to be a diagram somewhere on there.

It appears to be out the corect distance, but it's cocked at an angle. Try loosening the belt and then all the mounting bolts, and see if you can bring the front up slightly, and then tighten the mounting bolts in that position before setting the belt tension.
