So guys, how many of you have a car with a "cockpit", no jokes please.

I had a friend on facebook post this photo of a beautiful Duece roadster at a show describing the "cockpit" of this car and it hit me, I don't have a car with a "Cockpit", never have! My cars and trucks have had "passenger compartments" but none of them have had a "cockpit". Damn I am bummed out, a car with a cockpit is on my bucket list!

Brian

Why was it termed C o c k pit on aircraft is what I was asking? I never owned a car with one

Chris

I just looked it up , goes way back to the sailing days, it was termed for the area of the coxens quarters under deck and goes way back to the 1500s for anything shaped round that resembled a c o ck fighting ring! Early flight decks were called Co ck pits where pilots sat and waited! and then to planes and then early race cars

My Track-T roadster is referred to as a open wheel, open cockpit car. Plus the background also has a cockpit.

Brian, there is a lot to be said about a passenger compartment, like heat and A/C. You have no idea how much water I need to drink driving in the summer in an open cockpit.
