So I decided on a Quincy
I'm done pulling my hair out trying to pick which compressor I should or shouldn't get.
First it was the U.S General from HF (belaire replica?) Then the IR 60 gallon SS5L5 (for every good review their are 10 bad to follow) Quincy was always last on the list because of price, but after the total of everything from shipping to tax to warranty with the first two choices I rather save my self the head ache and pain and just fork over the extra $300-$400 for the Quincy. Even with the IR SS5L5 if it some how stays alive after the warranty is up they seem to want about $400 for a replacement motor. Hear nothing but good things with a Quincy so the extra $300-400 in cost should serve well. ============================== Now the question is not which compressor but what online store is best to deal with? Who has personally dealt with any of these sites for a compressor purchase? Last night I tried to do some quick research before passing out to bed. I took some notes and this is what I came up with for a Quincy TPTOOLS http://www.tptools.com/Product.aspx?display_id=2904 --$1499.99 for the Compressor (Free shipping, Lift gate extra) --$47.00 for Quincy maintenance kit with the Oil (this extends warranty by extra year correct??) --$50.00 for lift gate service --$1,605.96 Total price ================ Northerntool http://www.northerntool.com/shop/too...0475_200350475 --$1399.99 for the compressor (Free shipping, Lift gate extra) --$74.99 for Quincy maintenance kit --$99.99 for Northern Tool 1 year warranty (should I even get this? is their warranty B.S??) --$9.57 shipping cost separate for Quincy maintenance kit --$1,584.54 Total price They state free shipping and that lift gate is extra cost, however I didn't see any option to add that to the total during checkout. ================ Aircompressorsdirect http://www.aircompressorsdirect.com/...ssor/p855.html --$1399.99 for the compressor (Free shipping, Lift gate extra) --$59.99 for Quincy maintenance kit --$75.00 for lift gate service --$12.71 for Quincy maintenance kit shipping (separate cost) --$1,547.69 Total price ================ Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Quincy-Compres...9772320&sr=8-1 --$1399.99 (Free shipping, but says nothing about Lift gate) --$74.99 for Quincy maintenance kit --$1,474.98 Total price (Would need to call for info on extra lift gates charges) *NOTE* I could apply for a Amazon card and I think they give 10% discount off first purchase. And free interest rate for a year. I have the cash so I plan on paying it right off and canceling the card. I have enough as is |

First off, I think you are being wise going for the Quincy. Over your lifetime, you will probably will recoup much more than the price difference because with dedicated servicing and maintenance, you should have trouble free service as a hobby compressor. Three key points: drain water from the tank daily!!!, check oil level on a regular schedule (post a log sheet and check it off), periodically blow out the windings in the motor and the filters on the pump.
