I learned with single stage metallics and pollies it comes easy to me after all these years I guess I have the nack for dusting on the last leveling coat! and then clearing ! I can see stripes or motling if any with single stage because of the gloss and stand back away from the surface and re dust at an angle till the metalics lay down right and level out. But some base coats give me trouble because they start to lose their gloss and I cant see the stripe or area of motle to dust it out! And then there are base coats Ive sprayed that I was sure they would have a few motled spots in compound tight curves where the paint was heavy that came out perfect when cleared!
Maybe some base coats are foolproof
LOL I dont use enough paint any more to try and find the foolproof, I just stick to my old ways and what I know works now! Im too old to learn the new materials and methods for the few cars Ill paint during the rest of my time left! But if I was young again I would try to keep up and be fluent on every thing new! and the old materials Ive used are changing so fast its really bad its not the same formula and reacts different but it carry's the same name and label !!!
