So you thought things had gone too far?
Not yet they haven't!
The "shop" that build these is called East Bay Rods out of SF, Cali. They will CHARGE you money to toss one of these together for ya. They are serious. Last edited by tfeverfred; 07-16-2007 at 06:53 PM. |

To scoop up customers? According to the post on the HAMB, these guys were at the Goodguys, Colombus and were serious.

Thats funny They can't even get their name right.. The "east bay" is not san francisco..East bay is San Jose, Oakland Berkeley... any town on the eastern shore of the San Francisco bay.
Those cars look lame and sissy-fied. But that's just my opinion. Later, mikey

Ummmm...........I have nothing..
Just when I thought I had seen it all.
I thought I had seen some ugly cars, but this is staggering! I guess that it just goes to prove that no matter how friggin' ugly something is, somebody out there will love it. To each his own, but I don't think they will have a problem with a crowded showroom. |

If I am not mistaken (I'm far from an expert on the subject) most of those vehicles are steampunk. It's just art, but a moderately functional form. If you look at it and don't get it, it's just not art for you. Hot rodding is an art form in itself. Street rods are more art-oriented than muscle cars, and steampunk just takes it to a new level.

I think you are right about it being an art thing. It's easy to just glance and hate it, but on some or a lot of them, there is a lot of common abilities compared to someone who builds a "normal" car....like bodywork, handforming parts, adapting newer drivelines & suspension. So, I would think these guys COULD build a traditional rod or custom, but don't want to.
