I remember a guy in auto shop with a Rambler that had a "blower" in it. Turned out to be the a/c unit.

I still got that ole Galaxy, but I need to clarify that it run 10 or 11 sec. only when our clocks was on fast time.

I get crazy stories all the time... when people look at my Corvairs, it's "you must have gotten the "optional" 6 cylinder engine". It's amazing how many people think Corvairs came with 4 cylinder engines standard.

With my Impala SS, it's "has that got the "Cop Chip" in it?"

You run into a lot of "experts" at car shows.

one of my buddies has an s10 with a 350 in it, well he tried to tell me that it had a supercharger on it, when he popped the hood all I saw was an old worn out looking holley. After i told him that he tried saying that the supercharger was built into the intake.

I couldn't help but laugh my *** off

Oh. My. God. That, I believe, wins first prize.

Just recently, a guy was telling me he had a '69 Charger back home (aren't they always?) that had a 526 Hemi in it. I corrected him with "Don't you mean a 426?". His response was that it was special made for only 2 months that year. It took a lot of effort to not laugh in his face. I have to give him credit though, he was looking me square in the eyes when he told me that lie/whopper.

I also remember when Nitrous was just starting to catch on. You could always count on hearing from the guy who said he POURED some in his gas tank and blew his engine up.

There REALLY needs to be a book for these.

jokes on green employees

It's always funny when new and inexperienced people get sent out for non existent things like muffler bearings or things like that.

Often, in the glass industry we send newbies to other shops looking to borrow a glass stretcher (or shrinker). Usually they will return with a broken tool of some kind from the bottom drawer of a tool box, or that shop will tell them that it was lent out to another shop and they will have to get it there.

Every shop in town seems to know the joke. Works every time. And I gotta admit it worked on me when I was green.

When I was in the Navy, we used to send the new guy to Supply to get batteries for a Sound Powered Phone. It never failed. Other times we'd get a new shipper come to us looking for an HT punch. HT1 Kiefer used to love giving them out. He was about 5'10" and built like a truck! The punch was always delivered!

An HT is a Hull Technician in Navy rating.
