"Big Story" guys.........

I just let them go on and on...They eventually trip on their own b s and are fun to watch and laugh at And, you never see their cars... Reminds me of being at an "Andy's Picnic" event here in Northern Calif; Pre 49 only cars admitted. Someone drove in with a 38 Ford 4 door, mostly gree, lots of primer, ratty interior. I overheard some really nasty critic going on about that car, and finally asked him "where's yours" ? He mumbled something about still being constructed...My response to him was "well, he's DRIVING his......Which makes it an accomplishment!" The "car critic" went away.......

i used to work with a guy that seemed to copy everything i said about my car. i would tell him i have a big block, and all of a sudden, so did he. i told him i have an 8 pt cage, and all of a sudden, he had to one-up me and he had a full road race cage. i told him i considered getting a blower in the future, and guess what, he had one on his already! oh yeah, after i found out he lived about 4 blocks from me, he said he got rid of the car just before i started working at the same place as him. coincidence? every time i said something, even if it was about our houses, cars, anything, he would have to one-up me. everyone we worked with knew he talked so much poo. by the way, i never saw the car and nobody ever knew he had it even though he supposedly brought it to work several times before i worked there. i might talk smack about my car, but i left 30 ft skid marks in the parking lot at work, so they all know i have a loud, ugly, scary hot rod!!

LOVE the BS

Cracking up at this post. We all know someone or someones like this. My Head-BSer-in charge is a local fella that has built most of the fast cars around here. If not built at least tuned them. His personal car was a 66 chevelle with a 327 sprint car motor, 13.5 compression, all aluminum motor. What made it special was the 180 degree crank. It fired 2 cylinders at once. He was the king of 100 dollar bill trick. He'd lie when the truth fit better. He once asked me" did I see the 40 ford he was tuning on Sunday" it had a 454 blower lenco the hole nine yards. I replied "no I didn't see it" He replied with the old saw, the guy built it but just couldn't get it right. They did hole shots out front all day. Let's see hmmm 1. small town (gonna hear a blown bbc pullin holys) 2.No black marks 3. past his house all day. Same crap sitting around junk lawn mowers old refrigerators no 66 chevelle or 40 Fords. When I see this dude I try to hide.

my story

After waiting a couple of weeks for my 67 GTO to be transported from Florida the transport guy finally calls to tell me when he is going to drop it off. We get to talking and he tells me that he has been building hot rods since he was 13 (he is now 25 or so he said). He told me the first car that he built was a 69 Camaro that his uncle had given him. He told me that he put a 454 Hemi in it and that is runs 11's. Then he went on to say that the 454 Hemi was actually built for my 66 GTO. Instead of being a jerk and calling him out I just went along.

I know what you mean but I'm somewhat confused. you are talking about a car that has a viper motor in it. Are you talking about the one under the hood that makes the car transfer from one place to another? That's an engine, it is internal combustion. There are several motors in a vehicle. They are electrically operated. Just bugging ya. almost everyone calls an engine a motor.

Al

IF the thing under your hood is not a motor when you change the oil make sure not to use motor oil.

Motor / Engine,.....?

Points to Ponder.......

Engines power our cars, but Detroit is called "Motor City". This one will never be "settled",...Always good for a conversation starter ! While we're on the subject of wording, if something is sent via waterborne vessel (ship) , why then is it called "CARgo"? Conversely, something is "SHIPped" in a railroad CAR !

Why do we drive on a parkway but park in a driveway?

Last week a guy at work told me about a 85 Camaro he and his buds built. They had BBC engine in it loaded with lots of chrome parts and a performer tunnel ram topped with a demon carb. It had a 9" rear in it as well. Bad thing was the first time they ran it was at the track and they forgot one thing - wheelie bars. When he left the line the car hooked , stood straight up and then flipped right over onto it's top. It hit so hard it ruined everything on the car including breaking the engine. Poor guys had to junk the whole car.

I knew a guy in high school who was a major BS-er. He drove some crappy '80s Buick or Olds, I don't remember which, but at home he had a muscle-era Pontiac with the motor bored .097" over, and him and his dad put DOHC on it...

A kid I knew was a Major BS'r.. When I told him I had a '67 Falcon, week after he said he had bought a '65 Falcon w/ a str8 6 but he had a 460 he was going to drop in . a few months after that, he said he had bought a 1973 'Cuda ( I can't remember what he said it had for an engine, but I remember, it dosn't exist ).. when I first asked he replied " I havn't even opened the hood yet " but later gave me some bogus answer.. a few months after I re asked about it, by that time he said he sold it.

RE: crap stories

hahaha maybe the guy with the small block mopar "viper" engine was an old street racer and fooled ya by disquising his viper engine.....or maybe he was just full of it. hahahaha some people are nuts but hey they keep the rest of us laughing our butt off... maybe thats their purpose. Anyway I look back and have encountered so many of these kind like you mentioned that I dont know where to begin since I usually just laugh and go on. But that was a classic story, Thanks

40 ford guy RE:big story guys

I hear ya, it's always the guy who either has no car or one that isnt finished who is first to throw stones, All of these cars have to start somewhere and my hat is off to the guy who drives his and works on it. We all know taking a car that really is junk and having the patience and determination to stay with it is an accomplishment not to mention all the money and hard work. I have fixed up many an old car and I have to admit on a few occasions I got burned out and wished I had never bought it, but once finished or I should say finished enough since none of us ever really finish. I was very happy that I stuck it out.
