boy is my neighbor a nut job!!!

hes got this mid to late 80s mustang and he talks about that car like its a top fuel dragster. its got a 5.0 engine with (in his little world) a 300 cam 5speed tranny and 2.76 rear gears. one day he was telling me thats hes raced hondas that have NOS and a ton of other mods to them. first of all how the heck do you know someone has mods unless they show/tell you. well this guy said he was on the freeway messing around with this honda that he just KNEW had nitrous. and since he has highway rear gears he could drop it into 2nd on the freeway! and pass the little honda with his supposed nitrous!

then today while im working on my car he comes strutting over talking about oil. first of all i dont really care i never ask what his views on oil were but he just likes hearing himself talk lol. anyway he got to talking about his mustang again about how it has 400,000+ miles on it and only 3 yes only 3 oil changes! and all he does is change the oil filter. i didnt even get a chance to ask him how thats possible when he popped off saying its possible because synthetic oil. now idk about any of you but i know for a fact not one synthetic oil is that freaking good! then he tells me about another engine that had 200,000+ miles on it that also only had a couple oil changes on it. only difference with this 200,000+ engine is it still has the honing marks on the cylinder walls and no lip and the top of the walls! now how the heck is that anywhere near possible?!?!?!?!?! i mean really 200,000+ miles!!! but whats really funny is the 400,000miles+ engine. i mean come on no rebuild 3 oil changes and is able to beat hondas with nitrous lol. this guy really likes to hear himself talk lol. what a nut job lol. next time this guy talks ill try to see under the hood of this top fuel mustang that drive from the valley to the bay area every day.

I was walking into a parts store the other day. There were two young guys in the lot with the hood of their rice machine open. I could see a bunch of chrome junk on the engine. The one guy, obviously the car owner, was showing the other guy a chrome ignition coil, and he said, "This will really wake up my starter!"

My dad used to run a car for 100K with 6 oil changes -- 1 spring, 1 fall -- but I don't recommend it, the cars were junk after that. 200K with 3 oil changes.... I wish I hadn't read this, I'll be laughing too hard to sleep.

Well I admit to doing oil changes spring and fall...
But I drive under 15 k a year and I use Amzoil synthetic.

I have 180k on a Grand Caravan and it still runs great and doesn't use more than a quart between changes. Besides, it's an 11 year old minivan...who cares!

He gets out and the next thing you hear is. How much HP does it make. Makes 527 HP with a blower and turbo... Is it stock? Yah I baught it like this but the hoods stuck shut so I cant open it to show you...

I go to school with a guy whos 17 and seems to need to fit in...

His 71 Camaro had a 350 N/A and was making like 600 hp, and he could drag the rear bumper through intersections...and run a 10.31.....in the 1/8 mile!

Theres not enough room to discuss everything wrong with what he says.

Last year at school there was a guy who claimed his 93 acura integra could run 180. He also claimed his basically stock 98 civic could outrun a porsche 911 on the interstate. There is one in my grade that claims his beat up pos civic can run 110 between redlights which is about an 1/8 mile

Kid in HS..late 60s..his Dad owned a Olds Dealership. Used tell us how his Dad's Toronado could pull WHEELIES in the service bay..obviously he new nothing about cars..or the Toro..

When we busted enough chops..he took us to the dealership late at night..used his keys...
In the service there was a nice gold Toro..he wa gonna' show us..he smoked the Firestones on that slippery shop floor...screechin' and smokin'.
When he slid into four or five little Subarau 360s (little three door deals?)..they just started selling them..
We respectfully laughed our butts off..while we raced out the closet door..

He did the right thing though...denied everything..called the police about the vandals that wrecked Dad Subies..and the Toro of course.....

speaking of 305's my friend got an 85 or 86 C-10 longbed. At first he thought it was a 350. He would always say that it could destroy my 69 F-100 with a healthy 390 in it. He only drove it once. The only things he had to replace on it were starter, carb, flexplate. Now he says the valves are rattling. This is why i'm a ford man.

a freind of mine brought some kid over, and when he saw my car in the shop and my dads cars in the driveway, and he starts talking about how before the moved to our town, they ovned.. .. lemmi think a sec.... ... a 70 chevelle, 70 challenger, 70 gto, 67 gto, 70 442, 70 javilin, 70 cuda convert.
etc... etc... etc... e.t.c... all were 4 speed, big block cars that they "used to race" "but they had to sell when they moved, and got something like
$ 80,000 per car wich is funny because they are always complaining about how they have no money. HA HA

dude, stick to rice burners

heres a few.

this actually happened yesterday, and we fixed it today, but this thread reminded me of it. my buddy dylan just bought a harley-davidson off my cousin mikey. Its a 1989 883 sportster (evolution). I know this isn't a motorcycle site but its funny anyways. He imed me last night and said "hey joel, whats the valve adjustment gap for my harley????" i said there isn't one, you go by feel. he said well thats kind of stupid don't you think, i want this to be right. well I dont' honestly know how to adjust valves on a h-d but anywho... I called my uncle jeff that has taught me almost every thing i know and he wanted to know what kind of motor it was. I already knew but I asked dylan for the hell of it and he said it was an 883 shovel head. well jeff knew and i knew that they never put shovel heads in sportsters and especially in 1989 and they never made a 883 or 833 shovel. then he askes me how to change the oil. I said you drain the oil tank thats under the seat change the filter and add new oil. he then replys "i thought that oil mixes with the gas?!?!?! i'm talkin about the "base" oil." lmao I told that story to some bikers today that were at the shop...they laughed for nearly and hour...

we also have a regular costumer that comes to the shop and says he has a 1987 chevy s10 super sport and its very rare and very valueable. He also says hes got a 350 crate motor still in the crate for it. I was riding along the other day with jeff (From the previous story) and i saw the ****tiest s10 ive ever seen. I said what a cream puff and jeff says yeah, thats that s10 super sport he was talking about. lol

had a guy that was looking at a car i was selling once that told me he just put 10 grand in his 65 camaro.... my buddy told him that was funny cuz they didn't make them until 67. he just laughed and said yup, you caught me. He never did buy the car.

Maybe not directly related to cars but when I heard this one this morning I just had to dig up this old thread!

A guy was telling me about his air compressor, actually he has two of them and one is powered by an air motor while the other one is electric. Now all he has to do is run the electric motor until that compressor builds up air then he uses that to power the air motor on the other one and since both tanks are tee'ed together he can then fill both tanks with the air motor powered compressor! He tells me that about the only time the electric motor is needed is when he first starts the compressors then after that the air motor, which is running off the first tank, is powerful enough to keep both tanks filled and the electric motor never kicks on unless he uses a lot of extra air, said he saves a ton on his power bill this way!

What really worries me is people like this vote!
