Well you all know that the bumps along the edge of the road are there to allow the blind to drive, right.

I know this is an old thread but Motor City? Maybe because Engine City just doesn't sound right.

Each and every time I pull up with my 1956 Chris Craft to fuel the proverbial clown comes up and says his/her "fillintheblank" had one just like it.

Mine is one of 121 made and the one only with the engine in it...

Another crap story.

Heres one as told to me and my brother from a long time friends older brother. It seems that there was this old race car driver/builder he had met who claimed to have built a 2 engined car that was so fast, it could outrun the police radio signal between towns.just to let everyone who does not live in my area that the towns around here are anywhere between 5 and 20 miles apart with long curving roads in some areas. The guy who told the tall tail was also known to claim outrageous about for himself.Example- At 16, he was a pro wrestler, only ate food he grew or hunted himself and was a member of Both the bloods and cripts gangs{this was 30 years ago} and we still don't have any of those gangs here.he has also been an underwater welder, semi pro football player and the leader of a motorcycle gang.I could go on for hours just about his tails but I don't have that much time. have a good time rodding guys and be safe.

I think everyone has heard a story or two, all about how fast, powerful or quick there car, truck or engine was. Thing is,...they always never have it with them, or it got sold off.

Usually I always classify these types as pitiful individual's that have to make things up in there life, because they have nothing. I once had a cossien that always lied and stretched the truth, what was worse was his mother would always back him up.....pathetic. We all new they were full of shizz, so what ever they said went in one ear and out the other.

The WEB seams to be a great place for these people, there is a certain Amity that makes them safe from detection. They are always the ones with the super street story, you know the one where they pull up to a Vette, Viper, Porche, fill in the blank, and wipe there face in his tail lights. Yes, yes, I heard it all before. What makes them dangerous, is there are many that don't know the differance between bull and fact, these people take anything written as gosple, and things like Torque valuves, clearances, so on can be very costly.

I love the this and other sites, but you have to take what's said with a grain of salt.

All that stuff is just like one blowhard know-it-all at my work. He had a 318 (doubt it was a 360....) 4 by 4 DMC conversion Dodge truck that he kept hyping up. And then he'd try to insult everybody else s truck of choice. Didn't fly for very long with me. I told him to pick a load, and I'd be there. Anytime, anywhere. Heck, I was even willing to try and drag his truck across the parking lot (I've got 18 feet of 1/2" by 4 inch link log chain. I'll post a picture of it to back it if requested...). Turns out he was all mouth and no show. 2 weeks after I called his bluff, he traded it off on a 2003 Ford. Some people.....

In a while, Chet.

This was just last week. This older guy, say early 60's told me he used to drag race an old Biscayne with a turbo stovebolt inline 6. He was going on and on. I was starting to think maybe he was exaggerating some when he said that his turbos were electric. He said they were fans used to pressurize the cockpits of cargo planes...( ) He had then mounted behind the grille and ducted to the carburetor...I kept listening.

Hey, he was a nice enough guy.

Well then he said it would pull the front wheels "about that high" (arm extended outward and roughly 4 feet from the ground) I said 'wow'...

Then he said he shifted it (3 on the tree) at 11 thousand RPM... I said 'whoa'

I didn't really catch the quarter mile time, but I'm sure it was spectacular.

Just nod and smile. But try not to laugh.
