trhe best story i have heard yet was actulay in a chat room on aol
i was talking to this girl who lives just a few miles away, she sent me "her picture" ..... a very hot lil blonde, but i get the feeling that the picture isnt realy her, as the picture looked more like something out of a photoshoot with a paid model the next day im talking to her some more, and i ask what she does for a living APPARENTLY she owns her own shop, and what they do is inspect brand new GM truck engines for missing components and large cracks !!!! GM ships a truckload of engines over, they unwarp them, check that the a/c units are bolted on, that the intake is there ect ect , and that there arent any visable cracks anyplace if the block is cracked, they weld it up and send GM a bill for the work if a component is massing, they order one, install it, and bill GM for the labor and then they ship all the engines back to the plant for installation apparently she makes over 60K a year doing this too, and all the while managing not to get a scratch, cut or burn on her model perfect skin, as proven by her picture |

"That's what he said!! He owned three Hemi Cuda's, two road runners, and a duster. The only one he still has is the Duster though why he kept that one over the others I'll never know. I'm almost afraid to ask him for the fit I know he's having for getting rid of the others. |

How hard can they get?
Having a discussion one day with a young man who was just entering the automobile repair business (as a mechanic). Discussion started out talking about Hoover dam and how the concrete down deep was still very warm and and getting harder as years went by. Wouldn't be completely cured for hundreds of years. He informed me that engine blocks were the same way and that they were actually cast decades ago and didn't completely cure for years and years. I hope he doesn't belong to this thing as his brain must have a long way to go to fully harden, or develope ,or whatever.

Concrete will fully set up around 24 hours (depending on temp) but will continue to get harder over the years. Also concrete that is kept moist longer will be stronger when it cures. |

two stories...
1. The local blow hard, you the type, wife works, he's 'got some leads', was a champeen Chess player in school.... He tells me that my license plate frame is wrong since it says '1969 Corvette' on it! I can't believe he would think I don't know what year my own car is! Another guy, in college would come in every monday with huge tales of power and racing madness with his superbee or something ( it's been a while), I finally saw the 'car' one day which he proudly showed me ( did he forget all the stories?? ) it was just a body with a tree growing in it. no suspension, engine Or interior! |

[QUOTE=killerformula]tells me it has a viper motor in it and he's been working for years to get it in there. /QUOTE]
Viper engines have a distinctive sound, kinda burbly and wierd, much different than a v8 at idle, at part throttle they remind me of a volvo 5-banger with a fart pipe, and at WOT it sounds like satan under the hood. |

My car was so fast I was scared of it, so I sold it.
People are so scared in my car that you can still see the fingerprints in my padded dash. Well, these two are believable! I do know a couple guys who bought hot cars that they were to scared to drive much and finally sold. I've ridden with a friend there's no way in hell I'd get back in the car with too. Of course I've given a couple rides to people who felt like the second one. Not necessarily because of the speed though. TRUE STORY: I was test driving a 232 six cylinder, three on the floor 72 Gremlin with a guy back in 85 or so. He didn't know much about cars, and knew I was a pretty decent backyard mechanic and knew my way around them, and was an AMC nut even then. I'm driving, and telling him you have to be careful with a Gremlin because of the light, short back end. Well, I decide to illustrate the point by popping the clutch at a stop sign (no one was coming, back road) and power sliding the rear around for a quick right turn. Yes, even a 232 1 barrel carb six can do that from a stand still in a Gremlin! It will do more than that though. Instead of doing a quick right turn, it broke loose on some gravel and spun 270 degrees for a quick LEFT turn before I let my foot off the gas! Since I was expecting something I recovered fast enough to calmly look over at him and say "see what I mean!" Boy was he ever impressed with my driving skill!! ![]() |
