I don't think anyone was offended. I think the comment was more pointed at the way it was written - just harder to read than most posts.
As far as stories - I was at a cruise-in one night and this guy was telling me his story about his Mustang that would pull the wheels on the street no problem - and that all he had to do to get it to do that was to change his pinion angle! Ha! The story went on about (with a bunch of "wheels up" instances) how he had to run from the cops after racing someone and how the cops followed him home by the trail of oil he left since he blew the motor running it so hard. Of course he went to jail. Hmmmm. Truth or fiction?? i would LOVE to see someone do a wheelstand on the street with a front engine car - and no hydraulics on the front. Course now he has no fast car because that instance caused him to "quit." |

I Have been told by men and women that I'm full of it. but I have never had a real wild story told to me that was not a joke.

I once had a guy tell me that a "327 shortblock" made more HP than the longblock version. (early 70s) According to him the shortblock was reserved for Vettes and SS badged cars. "Once they put that 327 shortblock into his 62 Biscayne... watch out!" I didn't have the heart to tell him that he was clueless. Let him revel in his own little reality.

It is possible to set up a car to put the front on the street, good sticky tires and the right setu will do it. I hang out with some guys with fast cars, the kind of guys that need a NHRA Licence to run at the track and They say it can be done, slows the car down and is hard on the front end but it can be done... |

This one is my favorite. This kid has a Chevelle. Typical bondo barge, air shocks, mis-matched wheels, and a BBC. While hard to tell initially I scammed the code one day (he was a regular), and it turned out to be the basic "truck engine" with low compression. Looking at it one can tell the heads have never been off. A few weeks later he shows up with an alum intake and holley on the thing and some headers and brags about the badassed cam he just put in. A solid cam with .750 lift and 410 duration. I really disliked this stroke anyways, and hearing his BS day after day, nite after nite, I'd had enough. He babbles about his 410 cam again and I asked him where did he shift it at. "So what, you buzz this big beotch about 10-12,000 RPM?" 'No way dude, it's a big block!' "So how do you fill the cyliders?" I asked...sicerely(as sincere as I could). 'Whadaya mean? i don't get it.' "Well, the valves must never close. I was just wondering." 'You don't know cams, man!' "Well you've got 410 degrees of duration right?" 'Yeah, so?' "So how do you close the valves? There's only 360 degrees in a circle. It must be a wierd lookin cam." 'What does a circle have to do with it!?! You don't know schitt!!' About then someone else chimes in and gently explains it to him. I had to laugh. He'd been had and found out and left practically in tears. Some of the guys thought it was cruel how I called his BS and acting so honest and sicere at the same time. I didn't. I also didn't see him much after.
As far as street wheelies...well the reality is that in the days before "street car shoot out" racing there were some real serious and stupid fast street racers roaming the streets of Motown in the wee hours of the morning. Anyone remember Joey Yotuma? |

I have heard some real crap before, I'm still in school, so alot of rednecks BS about all the stuff that they do. One guy was saying they had a car that would idle at 85mph (I don't know how) another guy was saying that he was taking this sharp corner at 95mph in his friends all stock FWD crap-box. Can't forget about those 650-cfm Holley Dominators (only heard that once). One guy was trying to tell me that his 210-hp 86' Cutlass would run High-13s (If it was made out of aluminum-cans). Don't forget about the twin-turbo Dodge Stealth that makes 310 hp and can run 200mph....better put a Tornado on that and take it to Bonneville.

My friend told me that 100 dollar bill story too about how they let you keep it if you can grab it. I never really believed anyone would do that and if you were able to get it, the guy driving would probably just look at you and say, "Give it back and don't make me hurt you."

Another thing that gets me, body-kits. I know they may help/hurt the aero-dynamics of the car, but just because your Cavalier has 90-pounds of ABS plastic glued on it dosn't mean its fast.
![]() Same twin-tubro Stealth as I was talking about earlier. There used to be a guy in town that had this Eclipse (His name was Issac Newton... ) With a Lime-Green body kit riveted to his 99' Eclipse that changed color about every week. It had a fart-can on it too. It was a 4-Cylinder car, so 100 ft.lbs of torque in a 2900 pound car dosn't really work all that good.My friend and his uncle would always go out and race the guy in their Tiburon, which was stock, and usually kick his ***. The guy eventually had a kid and moved away, but you see the car like 4-or-5 times now. -GF |

...ROFL!!! That made my day right there hahaha, omggg how can people take guys like that seriously?? It really boggles my mind how immature people can be. Letssss take some quote from the article shalllll we? "If it shows 160mph odometer. It should make that right?" "I had my Jetta up to just under 130 with around 2K miles on it. Probably could of made another 5-10 mph but the car really started to float. Need to add a front air dam and a spoiler, lowering the 4x4 suspension might help too! " "I put my car on test sunday.I was disappointed.I can only make 120mph at 3000 rpm." ANNNDDD then to answer to the last quote just made me laugh my *** off at what this guy said: "Get that puppy up to 6000 rpm and 240 mph!" Apparently I did not know that everything doubles when you increase your rpms, my God... how did I not know this?? Holy hell, that article is full of pure genious that has shown me the light to the import 4 cylinder world of wings on fwd cars and full of body kits. |
