Is this some kind of boat steering part?

I know this is a hot rod forum....

But some of y'all have boats.

I have found, while digging in my vast collection of CRAP, this apparatus..

It appears to be a power steering assist ram, I recognise the control valve and cylinder configuration..

But for what?

Later, mikey

Looks like an outdrive steering ram to me.
Ya know----inboard/outboard.

Remember something like that on my Dad's boats.

I think it looks like it would fit a Mercruiser Marine out drive unit.

It appears to be a 'out drive' (up and down) hydraulic 'trim' ram.

It looks to be in good shape. Try a search on ebay to find a 'like' part.

I suggest doing a search for over 18' boat (trim tab hydraulic ram) parts.

Thanks guys, I searched all over for "boat power steering and all kinds of other terms I could think of with no luck.....Searched with "mercruiser" and hit it right on the button on ebay...
I found a spittin' image of one and it was labeled "1990 mercruiser alpa one sterndrive power steering rack"

I don't mind having mountains of junk in my shop, but at least I want to know what it is...

Thanky, mikey
