Some questions on Kirker clear coats

Hello fellas,
I'm gonna be repainting my Galaxie once the weather breaks, going with one of their bc/cc urethane kits with the 2k primer. I don't need expensive paint, it's my first try at a WHOLE car, so I'll be pleased if it comes out. I'm doing it in my driveway and my "assistant" is my friend who will be working in exchange for lodging during the job (gotta love poor friends! Will help you out if you throw a bed in your basement for them!)

I was going to go with the Evercoat Rage Xtreme filler as there's no real "dents" that need filled, just a basic skim coat to fill in low spots where I need it, so the thinner Rage fill is probably alot better for me.

Now, I'm going with their basic super jet black, and was curious to those who have used their clear coats, which kind did you use? The basic clear that comes with the kit is their EC100 that says its for production shops. Has anyone used it or some of their other lines, I was going to try to upgrade to one of their better clears as they're not much more expensive if they leave a better finish, if it actually works better. I was going to get 2 gallons of base so I can do door jambs and under hood and under decklid and such, and am shooting for the deepest black possible and like the idea of a BC/CC since it'll be easier to fix boogers while I'm working.

I prefer black in Single Stage, but to each his own.

I used the Mirraclear II once, which should be the same stuff as the EC100. It didn't run on me at all and flowed out pretty nice and I'm a beginner too, so I'd say it's fairly user-friendly. I've heard others say it's not really a 'water-clear' clear it's slightly yellow, but on my car you can't tell.

Good luck. If you have a garage you may get a better result in there. Be safe and wear a mask.

I havn't buffed mine out yet and it's been 6 months, waiting for a nice day...

I originally planned on shooting Omni MTK single stage urethane from my local jobber, but got a sour taste in my mouth when I called for the price of a gallon of MTK in 9700 black and the fella's response was "there is no Omni urethane single stage." After a few minutes of prodding he changed his tune and said a gallon was $100. The Kirker kit seems like a much better deal (after all, it ain't like Omni is the Cadillac of paints, I've read some good things about the Kirker) so I figured that I'd do BC/CC. My Galaxie actually lives in the driveway, I'm getting a collapseable car port to sit over it, when I do the paint job I was just gonna enclose it with tarps, so it won't be TOTALLY outside. It seems like a chicken vs. egg debate when it comes to black SS vs. BC/CC and I honestly don't have a preference, I like the "richness" of the SS but like the mirror-ish-ness and depth of the BC/CC. I figure I'll be happy either way, anything's better than crumby AE black that I got stuck in the middle of wet sanding so it's been flat black for months.

I talked to the people that sell those kits (smartshoppers) and they were really helpful. He said they include that clear because it is the most user friendly, but I could upgrade to any of the other clears if I wanted. Anyone have any experiences with their other clears, the Eurothane or the Ultra (EC200 or EC300)? They're about the same price, the EC200 mixes 2:1 and the EC300 mixes 4:1; they both say their good quality excellent gloss, blah blah, but they don't really specify any differences between the two.

I doubt you'll find people here with actual experience with the Kirker clears. You'll hear a lot of speculation, but no first hand experience. I hope I'm wrong because I'm thinking about trying one of the clears too. One thing to keep in mind is that you'll obviously need more of the one that mixes 2:1 .

Ive used the EC300......I liked it. I thought it was difficult to get it to run. I used an Iwata LPH400 and had good success. It buffed out well too.
