Some simple questions ref. my 67 Pontiac

Ive slowly been working on a resto-type plan of my 67 Lemans/GTO Clone and had a few questions.

The basic overall plan is to have a nice looking, nice sounding driver that will see, at most, 2k miles a year. It will be kept in a heated/cooled garage at all times. It will be a driver in the summer, with no plans for the strip.

Currently it has a SB350 in it, which i plan on switching to a rebuilt Pontiac 400. I located one for sale on ebay, and the listing goes like this:

"400 Pontiac short block casting 500557 date code 1977. Block is jet cleaned, magnifluxed, bored .030, decked .010, new cam bearings, soft plugs. Crankshaft is cleaned magnifluxed and micro polished. New cat forged connecting rods. L2262F-.030 forged TRW pistons. Moly rings, clevite rod and main and cam bearings. No camshaft or timing components. Machine shop fresh."

Looks pretty good from the pictures listed and the seller rating is 233 (98% pos) with no neutral or negatives in the last 12 mos.

First off, does this seem like a good deal?
With the proper motor mounts, should there be any issue bolting this in my car? Should there be any issues with mounting it to the Muncie 21 4 spd currently in the car?


Im also looking at replacing the rear end with a posi unit and 3.xx gears. Ive located one about 100 miles from me that ive talked to the seller about. The numbers on it are 0188 19 0 2 , though i cant seem to locate anything online using those numbers. The seller states is an Abody 10-bolt, posi, 3.55 (richmond gear). He wants $500 for it, any thoughts on that?

Im sure these seem pretty simple, so take it easy on me. This is my first project and im learning as i go along. Im very excited about the car, it will be going into paint in the next month or 2.

Is the 350 in your car a pontiac engine. I f so the 400 will bolt right up, same block from 389 to 455. It will also bolt to your tranny assuming it is Pontiac bellhousing. If motor was replaced with chevy at some point you will have to change motor mounts as 67' pontiacs did not come with chevy engines. All mounting holes should be there for pontiac motor, 6cyl to v8. Pontiac motor will not bolt to chevy bellhousing. Also make sure the flywheel on the pontiac motor is for a manual and not auto.
