I've always had a love for VW's, so I started on this 65 v-dub illustration a week ago. I thought I wanted it in green...



Then I started tryin' some different colors and came up with this...



It's not for anything in particular, just did it for practice and fun!

Being a bug fan myself, I dig the illustrations. But could you tell me what used?? Computer graphics program? Water color? Airbrush? Combination??

Cool I like it .
I alway's try too get my kidds too look at the, fine lines on Car's .
That and lines in motion .
Nothin has that in the pocket motion too it like a Porsche .
Or the straight line motion of a Cuda .

Way I try too explain this .
Is the analogy of watchin , a mountain Lion Climb a Cliff >
Cornerd one as a Kidd in a Open Pitt Mine .

It was Big, Lanky, Fur was loosley fit , moved slowly, clumsy, and aloof .
But once it seen us commin .
It Seemed too effortlessly pick up its pace , then scaled the cliff, effortelessly, at break speed , and was gone .

The motion of this Bigg Cat <<, Just didnt seem real . It didnt Struggle too scale the Cliff . It just effortlessly distanced itself from us .

I see same characteristic's in a lott of Car's .
Just seem too have the Effortless motion , too them .
Even when sitting still .

I think other people see this .But dont really identify it . But still the same they are atracted too it . It's Cool . No doubt !

I call it the essence of Motion !
Can be captured in a still Picture . Or A photograph . or on Film .
Even a cartoon . <, guy's hair is Blown Back .

But when theres a famaliarity too the motion . That is Identifiable with the subject matter ? << That is truly a beautiful thing .

L.A. freeway System on Sunday . Light too moderate traffic . Here comes the Porsche down the 405 . << In the Pocket , out of the Pocket . <, Like dance stepp's ? Nothin moves like a Porsche in moderate traffic .

So much for Mumbo Jumbo on essence of motion .
The Vw Design Team were Considerd the Masters .
Even by today's standard's the Ghia's , Big Hip fenders , on the beetles are considerd fine lines , of the Masters .
I tell my Boy's really , really Look at it . Dont stare hard Just abstractly stand back and look at it .

Squint your eyes Blurr your vision a lil bit just take in the out line of the Car .
Dad it's a Junk Bugg !!!! I looked at it !
My Oldest is 21 and he Draw's ! But seem's too only want too Draw Dragon's and Nude pic's of Amazon women ?

Funny how he can pick out the fine lines, and essence of the female anatomy .
But doesnt see it in , the motion of a Fine Car .
I tell Him i think that's the difference between , true Love and Lust ?

Im not sure wich is wich ? True love of a Women , or True Lust of a cool Car ?

Cool pic's draw some more for Us . I like them . Watch for Porsche's on the Freeway ! Cudas pullin off from the Red light ? Or the Stance of a Black corvette commin, straight at you .

what program did you use?

i've been looking for software forever

i cant find any downloads.. and i dont even know where to get it in a store either

in a fade light to dark blue

and in some type of porche rims

These as well as all of my work are all done in Adobe Illustrator as 100% 'vector' art.

For those who don't know...vector art basically means that it can be enlarged to the size of a billboard (or bigger) without any loss of detail...as opposed to 'rasterized' art, created in Photoshop which is limited to it's original size due to the fact that it is pixel based.

Very nice Ynot. If you ever have the time and inclination to share some of your knowledge about Adobe Illustrator, it would be great if you could do a "How To" in the HR.Com Wiki. That way people could add to your information as well.

I realize not all artists want to share their "bankable secrets", but even a simple tutorial revolving around automotive drawings would be of interest I would think. My son has promised me a copy of Illustrator...so when it arrives I'll be in the market for lots of free training.

Not sure why , everyone think's I crashed it ?

From lift Kitt's too , Chop topp'ed , too Baja's , too fyberglassed OEM configurated body part's

Ghias have some of the finest line's in Automotive History !
One of the theme Car's I did a Lil work on was a Volkswagen Thing !

It was painted Dark Green , Black convertible top ! Custom Baja style Bumpers . Big Tires , Raised up 3 in . , And customized too look like a Humm Vee . Very Cool Car !

What Arnold need's too drive , too be Politically correct !
Guy's around here even use Bugg motor's for Experimental , Home made air craft .

Imma thinkin I wouldnt mind buildin a V- Dubb powerd air craft for ole Al Gore ?
So he can get his Political Carreer back on track , with some Political Correctness ?

Point being Bugg's can be very custom car's !
Not sure I like the Roll's Royce front end Bugg's ?
But have a 59 Baja with a 3 inch Lift , on the Body that makes it very un aero dynamic, ride .

But My idea on it was 3 inch body lift with Chopp Top <<, The lift on body would allow for more room in **** pitt and the chopp topp would help with the Aero Dynamic's of the Car ?

If you can Draw it ? You can Build it ! Bugg's were used in Almost every Application of Vehicles there was .
Schwimaggen's too Kubel's ! Ambulances ! Tow Truck's ! Bread truck's ! Service truck's of all sort's !
Even a rail road track service truck too replace and inspect Rail road track's was used .
Mexican's still use them for Taxi's , Logg Splitters , Motor's were even used too power Draw bridges in Europe !
Guy here is usin one too Build a Plane ? <<, Not sure how that would work out ?

Im afraid of Elevation Glitches with the timming etc. Bugg's are very Subceptible too Elevation , along with Oil Starvation in the turn's . Not sure how that's Gonna work out ?
But saw the Motor too it at the Machine shop . 1835 CC Motor ? Was told guy was gonna use it in a Air Plane .

Not being far from the Community Air Port out here ! Ive been Listening for it ?
