Sometimes it pays to be nosey.......
I was discussing my current interest in an '81 Z/28 with an acquaintance and he asked me if I had seen a certian silver '79 Z/28 around and I said I had. He asked if I knew they story on it, I did not. Seems it had been a one owner and has been parked in his garage for the last 20 years. He had a guy there removing a tree and the guy stuck his head in the garage and saw the Z and asked if it was for sale. The owner said as a matter of fact he had decided to sell it but he had to have $2,000. That's right.........TWO thousand......... So the guy snags it then turns around and sells it a week later to the original owners neighbor across the street! Not for $2,000 either. I have been driving past this garage for the past 20 years never having a clue what was in it. It is an arrow straight, rust free 50,000 mile 1979 Z/28. It has a couple minor paint blemishes but otherwise looks like somebody's 2 year old trade in. 20 YEARS I DROVE PAST THIS CAR AND NEVER KNEW IT WAS THERE. 20 YEARS!!!!!!!!! DOH!!!!!!!!

It is just too bad that those x-ray vision glasses I used to see advertised in magazines did not work. I would be driving around spotting old cars in buildings all the time.

And, you wouldn't have to peep in windows anymore either.......................
Kidding....couldn't resist.

Hey, you don't believe me? Fine, I can live with that. You guys aren't the ones I have to answer to on Judgement Day.

Yeah, we believe you.....it just evolved into the same old stories that people hear all the time. I am always dreaming of that great find, and have barely missed a few too. It feels like shooting yourself in the foot.................I would imagine.

Probably just as well I missed out on this one because the '81 is just what I have been looking for and I would have been kicking myself, although I could have made a nice profit on the '79 which would really come in handy toward buying the '81............. oh well, water under the bridge.
