Sonic Cruise - Another beautiful evening

Lots of cool cars again - got there a little early, but it filled up fast. The businesses across the parking lot from the Sonic asked that everybody save spaces close to them for their customers, which was no problem since the cruise could just expand sideways a few more rows. Everybody seemed cool with it, and the business folks seemed pleased as well. Always good to keep the neighbors happy.

Started out with a couple of cool '32 roadsters and some nice tri-fives.

This '57 was parked straight across from me - half way through the evening, I saw a little puff of smoke coming from behind this car, followed by another puff, and another... I couldn't see anybody near the car, so I thought I had better investigate in case something was smoldering. The owner was sitting in the trunk, having a cigarette. I told him, "this might sound strange, but I'm glad you're smoking", then explained that I was worried his car might be the one smoking!

This '35 Buick was parked behind me - very nice restoration. Guy told me it was in the shop for 3 1/2 years being restored. It didn't sound like he did any of the work, which I thought was disappointing, but he drives it everywhere around the country (70,000 miles worth in 2 1/2 years!), which makes up for it. This 'A' was a nice restoration. The orange pickup looked good inside and out, and included this modestly blown SBC. This '33 coupe has several clones in this area - there are at least three that look just like this, black, high-boy, blown, bad-*****.

A nice red 5-window, almost-twin Ford pickups, and a Dodge Colt sporting some V8 Mopar muscle. The weather was perfect, saw some friends, met some new folks. All in all, a great evening. The only disappointing part was that some really cool rides showed up after dark, and I couldn't get good pictures of them. I met a few guys a couple weeks ago at another cruise, and one of them showed up in a 340 Duster that runs 10.5s in the quarter!

I was thinking along the same line. Looks like a nice older resto with tuck and roll interior but the huge wood pole needs to be replaced with something classier.

Thanks for the nice pics....

I've been to our local Friday night cruise/show a few times this year and new cars are coming out of the garages. My local Camaro Club hosted an all Chevy show last Saturday and there were a few new ones to oogle at. Especially the passenger in the '65 Monza....

I've noticed the ageing street rod crowd too. Seems the younger people lean towards ther 60's stuff more. Wonder where that will leave all the rods when we get out of it ???

I hope my daughter appreciates my '33, because I intend to leave it to her when I'm gone.

So... passenger in the '65 Monza... when you gonna show us the pic?
