Sound deadening Studebaker
 

Hi Guys, Im new to the whole custom car scene and I just bought a 1963 Studebaker lark I am looking to do a few things to. to start with I want to dyna mat the interior to drown out some of the road noise. does anybody on here know how much I would need to do the floor, doors, fire wall and boot? even a rough estimation of how much I would need for jus one section ie: how much for boot would be helpful.

There's a ton of information here about sound deadening a vehicle. Start with this thread, and then do a search for sound deadening. http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/dyna...al-201328.html Remember two things: 1) with these products you get what you pay for 2) you don't need to cover every square inch to get good sound deadening.

Check into a product called Lizard Skin. It's a spray on sound deading and they also have a spray on insulation coating.

I have used this http://www.metalshield.com/ and for $50 plus shipping its a bargain. Insulate sound deaden and rust proof with one product.
From the website: This product can be used as a single coat system or a two coat system. When using a two coat system a "wet on wet" application method is recommended.
This can be achieved by applying one coat of METAL SHIELD at 5-6 wet mils, let flash for two hours and apply another coat at 10 wet mils.
It can be brushed or rolled on, I used my critter spray gun.

Measure and add about 20%

I got a Studebaker also. It's a 46 M series. Few of us Studebaker folks left
Follow the advice they listed above... There are great cheap alternatives to Dynamat and Lizard skin.

fat mat is like dyna mat but without the $$$$$$$

I've never heard of metalsheild but for that price I'am going to give it a try. will be ordering the frist gallon this week.
