Sound proofing recommendations

Guys,

I'm getting ready to put some sound proofing in my 69 mustang and want to see if anyone has any suggestions for what type to use. I have read some posts on other forums regarding some brands and recently saw that Eastwood has come out with their own brand of sound proofing. Does anyone have any experience with it? Is it equivalent to the high price stuff? Can you put too much of this stuff in? What if I doubled it up?

Mike

This subject has been discussed here in length. Use the search function and you'll find tons of info. Check out this link: SOUND DEADENING If Eastwood has their own brand now, you can bet that they had one of the usual suspects make it for them and just put their own name on it.

I just put down sound matting on the floor of my Austin gasser and after searching around I found it cheapest by far from my local Home Depot. This is not the stuff with a asphalt based backing, but rather a dense foam backing. They sell it in 1'x15' rolls for $15, and it's self adhesive just like all the good ones are, and foil backed too.
They sell it in the heat and AC duct section.

Whatever you put down will be an improvement over what was there before. Truth be told, you probably will get as much sound deadening from your $1.00 a square foot stuff as you would with the fancy stuff.
