Spare tire truck storage options

I have a 47 pickup truck and want to store the spare tire under the truck bed. Right now the spare is riding in the bed and taking up valuable space. I know they used to store the tires underneath the bed and sometimes on the side of the truck. I don't see any type of mounting apperatus to put mine under the bed. Do they make kits for this or could someone please stear me in the right direction so I can get my truck looking more presentable and have some more room in the bed? Thanks

I will send you off to the local pick-a-part to look under some trucks to see what the OEM's do..Some toyota and nissan pickups used a winch affair that was operated with the lug wrench that worked well..Some fabrication will be required but you knew that right?

hell even the big three all have set ups,, even mini vans..
I can't as I put my tank there.. but I'm thinking of a hidden hitch behind the bumber and a bike bracket and make a spare tire carrier out of one and then use a convertion van spare cover to cover the tire,, most of those bike racks have a pin to allow it to fold down to open tail gates..
be like a jeep but without the strain on the bed side

Cool, that gives me some ideas. I'd like to have the tire underneath or hidden rather than on the tailgate, though. We have a swap meet coming up this weekend, hopefully I can find something there. Thanks again for the help!
