sparkplug diagnosis
I have read here on an old post that if the top[head side]of the sparkplug is black and the bottom of the plug[piston side] is light, that this is an indication of oil coming in from the top,i.e. valve guides,intake leak etc. Am I correct in this assumption?

what exactly do you mean by top side of the plug? best way to tell if your burning oil is to check and see how fast your using oil. is the engine going through a lot of oil without leaking it on the ground? any hints of blue smoke while its running? blue smoke on acceleration and all around is usually piston rings where blue smoke on deceleration is usually valve related from what ive seen. if your not using a lot of oil and its not noticable in the exhaust gasses youed be better off prolly just leaving it alone imo
