Speedometer Jumps

More than likely if this is a cable driven system you are looking at a worn head and will probably have to go to one of the speedometer drive repair services. But I would inspect the drive gear also from the transmission just to be positive and it would not hurt to slip the cable out of its sleeve while you have the head out and inspect it also.

Info

Doc here

What kind of car is it?

What kind of speedo? Mechanical or digital?

Do you have Cruise control?

If it's digital, It could be an electrical problem. Or a transducer on the way out...

If mechanical, and you have cruise control you could have a bad or loose secondary Cable on the cruise control or the CC unit going out itself...or The primary Cable may be loose.

More Info please..

Doc
