Speed Demon or Holley

We are trying to decide if we wanna go with the 650 holley dbl pumper or the 650 speed demon. A lil feed back would be greatly appreciated...

My friend has the following and was wondering what Barry Grant carb do you think would be good for him? He will be running around the 5500 rpm range.

1983 Oldsmobile cutlass supreme.

Chevy 350 4-bolt main Bored .60 over.
9:1 compression pistons.
Summit cam (.460 lift)
.194/.180 heads w/ 3 angle valve job.
Stock rockers
Edelbrock Performer RMP intake.

Either carb will work fine. The BG may be a little better, but the price will be higher.

I have put a few diffrent holleys on my Dodge. I finnaly scrapped up the cash to get a Demon, and when I had it driving, man was it nice, of course mostly the same as a holley, but with better engineering, Id spend the extra cash if I were you.

granprix76,

You could go with either a 625 Road Demon carburetor, or the 650 Speed Demon on this combination. The 650 would give you room to grow if you were planning on making future engine upgrades.

I have a 650 speed demon vs on my 355 and that thing is nice. I would go with another any day for a street car, i like holly for my trucks but for speed i go with demon. You would have a lot of room for improvement with that carb too. Im sittin at 10:1 compression, dart 200cc pro1 heads 2.02 1.6 valves comp pro magnum roller rockers 1.5:1 ratio, air gap intake comp extreme energy 268 cam. all forged internals and i rev her up to 7500 regularly with no carb problems and i had to jet it down when i got it on there.
