Speedo gear in tranny change???

My tranny is being rebuilt as I speak. I need to get my speedo recalibrated but forgot to check the mph with my GPS. Is there a way to figure out what gear I need in the tranny if I now what size tires where stock on my car vs. what I have now?

Car is a 66 Impala with 235/50/18 tires. 3.73 rear gears......

Dave

Or, plug your tire diameter and rear end ratio into the formula at http://novaresource.org/speedo.htm , and you'll get your speedo gear ratio that you need. Take that figure to the chart, and find which gear combo fits your need best.
