Speedo cable interchange TH350 to TH400

Just swapped in a th400 in place of my Th350. Problem is the original speedometer cable does not fit the Th400(square hole in th400 speedo controller is bigger). I thought all these speedo cables would interchange, what can I do to make it work?

Hmmm ... I think this may be an application-specific problem.
There are two common sizes for speedo-cable core wires (0.130 and 0.150) as well as a few different drive-type manufacturers (i.e. Stewart-Warner and Bendix) as well as different sized tips within those mfr's. (See guys ... they're NOT "all the same" )

Some transmissions (like mine from a 1979 C20) use a ratio adapter box which screws onto the treaded driven gear retainer, then the cable screws onto it

... while the cable threads on directly on others.

I'm not sure what your setup is like, but NAPA sells some Speedometer cable components.
Browse through these and see if you can find something that will help?

Based on your post, this is what I *think* you might need?

Part Number: BKP 615-1803

It appears to be the larger square tip for the smaller diameter cable?

HTH,
Don
