speedo cable leakin
350 trans
car is 63 chevy imp. originally came with a powerglide. leaking from the cable. is there any way to fix it? im pretty sure the cable isnt the same thread but it goes on and gets tight. can i take parts from a powerglide or they different? im tired of it leaking. i tried some teflon tape too .

Most of the sppdo housings have an inner and outer seal.
Also the speedo housing can whear out. Look for an oval opening in the houling.

the cable haas an outer casing that was split.looked like it was coming from there. i put some 200+mph electrical tape around it to see if it stops it from leaking there. if so ill go get a new one

If you take the cable off the tranny and remove the retainer bolt and plate you can then remove the speedo gear and housing. There is a seal in the housing that is probably your problem. Replace it and the o-ring and you should be fixed up.The seal keeps oil from getting into the cable. Hope this helps.

When my TH350 speedo cable was leaking, I had to replace the speedo gear. It was worn so bad it would not seal. Only a couple of bucks at the Chevy dealer.
