speedo failure 4l60e drops to zero

the speedometer drops to zero i have to rev engine to go forward then it seems to work fine

need more info like year, make, and model, if its a truck, state whether its 4x4 or not.
usually when you get speedometer dropout like your describing, the vehicle speed sensor is usually bad.
