Speedometer Help

Im not sure exactly were to put this and I havent found any help yet. Anyway I have a 96 Geo Tracker and if I am going under 30 MPH the speedometer needle isnt a fluid motion like it should be it jumps around. However when I get above 30 MPH its fluid the way it should be and works fine till I drop below 30. Any help on fixing this would be appreciated.

Speedometer Help

On your model the speedometer and the vehicle speed sensor (vss) are made

together. To test the vss you will need to first disconnect the neg. cable and

remove instrument cluster. Connect an ohmmeter between the vss and

ground terminal on the back of the instrument cluster and insert a flat

screwdriver into the speedometer cable connector. Rotate the screwdriver

the ohmmeter reading should alternate between 0 and infinity 4 times for

each revolution of the speedometer head. You will need to replace

speedometer if vss does not test as described. Hope this helps you

good luck!
